Ant Nematodes
Control Ants using Nematodes - Ant nests in lawns and borders can be a real problem.
Simply water these nematodes (steinernema feltiae) directly into the nest using a watering can. Ideal for treating red ant nests in lawns (it will work on any colour ant).
They come as a powder which will keep for up to 2 weeks in a fridge and should be used in one go once opened.
As the ant nematodes are a cure rather than a preventative measure, DO NOT apply the nematodes until ants are present and the soil is 10°c. You can apply the nematodes as long as the soil temp is 10c - normally between mid March and September.
These nematodes are:
- Safe for children, pets and wildlife and it is safe to use the lawn directly after use.
- Simply repeat as often as is needed to keep the area free of ants - it is impossible to overdose.
- Totally safe to use near food crops.
- DO NOT order until the soil temp is 10°c or above and ants are present.
- Each small pack will treat up to 16 large ants nests, a large pack will treat up to 50 nests.
For persistent ant infestations - to keep ants at bay, simply re-apply the ant nematodes at 4 week intervals. We can arrange a planned programme which delivers you 3 packs of ant nematodes at 4 week intervals. Please call the office on 01902 440250 to arrange.
